O'Neal Children's Department Programming Beak
As the summer comes to an end, the O'Neal Library Children's Department takes a programming break in August. Thanks for your understanding and look through the September calendar for upcoming events!
Bear Week
Sept 22nd - 28th
ONL Bear Week is our way to celebrate Katmai National Park's Fat Bear Week. At the library, vote for a favorite book bear (there's a different match-up every day), attend bear-themed storytimes, create bear art and bring your bear to a teddy bear sleepover with stories and after-hours mayhem. Voting is also available online. Some programs require registration.
At Katmai, the marvelous bears come out of hibernation in July, scrawny and hungry, then return to their dens in September at their amazing new winter weights. Check out before and after pictures here. Then, join us in the storytelling room September 22nd-28th during library hours to watch coverage of Alaska's bears. Starting in October you can vote again online with Katmai National Park for your favorite "Fat Bear". Link
